modbargains Meets With Washington Officials On Internet Marketing and Data Privacy

LA HABRA, CA (July 1st, 2014) – modbargains, a recognized leader in the automotive parts and accessories industry, has met with several members of Congress in Washington concerning customer data privacy issues related to online and social media marketing.

Mike Brown, CEO of modbargains, has grown his business over the years primarily through online and social media channels. He recently received Congressional Recognition for his contributions in helping modernize the aftermarket automotive parts industry via internet-based and social technologies. Using the Internet and popular sites like Facebook and YouTube, modbargains has played an important role in addressing the fragmentation and inefficiencies in the automotive parts market, providing a digital information and knowledge-sharing platform for both consumers and manufacturers.

However, the benefits of modern marketing and advertising using digital channels like social media, websites, mobile, and email, has raised privacy concerns around customer data.

To proactively address these growing concerns, Mr. Brown joined a group of delegates representing the Internet Marketing Association, to meet with several distinguished members of Congress and the Department of Commerce.

"Our trip to Washington was an important one for all small businesses like my own, and marketing professionals overall, that are allocating increased resources and budget marketing their brands through online, mobile, and other digital channels,” said Mike Brown, CEO of modbargains. "We are at the very early stages of how digital marketing is changing the way companies interact with and sell to their customers; it’s critical we take a proactive approach with policy makers to help prevent any heavy-handed legislation that could stifle progress”.

modbargains continues to work with the Internet Marketing Association to lobby on behalf of small businesses and marketing professionals to support the continued growth and innovation in online and digital marketing.
