Vantage BREATHE like it was meant to! The OEM manifolds fitted to the V8
Vantage are extremely restrictive and built with cost in mind,
sacrificing vital horsepower and torque that the V8 Vantage sorely
needs. Velocity AP's exhaust manifolds are different than the products
offered by other companies is that while others advertise "equal length"
primaries, there can be as much as an 85mm difference in length.
Velocity's V8 Vantage Manifolds feature identical length primaries for
optimum power and torque increases. Available in Stainless Steel or
optional Inconel 625 (+$4,000).
Each initial primary diameter is 40mm, transitioned
into the 70mm secondary then flared to 76mm for the catalyst flange, and
each primary pipe is exactly 400mm long. In addition to millimeter
perfect primary lengths, these headers feature a fully fabricated merge
collector, not a formed/pressed collector (a cheaper collector-type that
robs vital power as it does not merge the four exhaust gas flow-streams
equally. You can see the knife-edged internal structure and the level of
workmanship and detail put into every set of Aston Martin Exhaust
Manifolds Velocity AP produces.
These manifolds/headers were independently performance tested on a Dyno
Dynamics Rolling Road (paired with Velocity AP's 200-cell Sports
Catalytic Converters, performance exhaust and ECU tune). Known for being
extremely accurate and consistent, Dyno Dynamics units are often
referred to as "The Heartbreaker" for giving notoriously low readings.
Using this extremely accurate dynamometer, a customer V8 Vantage yielded
335.5bhp. After the installation of these manifolds (sports catalysts,
exhaust system and ECU tune), the car produced 378.8bhp, an increase of
43.3hp (12.9%) - It's important to understand that these figures
represent a BHP gain greater than 43.3bhp - Aston Martin rates the 4.3L
V8 Vantage at 380bhp - a 12.9% increase over this figure would represent
a gain of 49bhp and flywheel output of 429bhp.
In addition to the horsepower boost, torque
experiences similar gains, increasing by 35-40ft/lb at 4000rpm-up, an
increase of approximately 13-15%. Aston Martin rates the torque output
at 302ft/lb @ 5500rpm - the true flywheel figure on this test car is
approximately 345-350ft/lb, meaning downshifting is now much less
necessary to access the torque band and a 4.3L car will now outrun a
later-model, 4.7L car.
