Velocity AP Power Pack+Exhaust for Aston Martin V12 Vantage, DBS, DB9, Virage, Vanquish 310

Give your V12 Vantage, DBS, DB9, Virage or Vanquish 310 a serious performance boost with this Power Pack from Velocity AP. This kit includes a High Performance Air Filter, 100-Cell Sports Catalytic Converters, Stainless Steel Performance Exhaust (choose Touring, Sport or Super Sport sound levels), a set of Performance Exhaust Manifolds (headers) and a performance ECU tune from Velocity AP. All told, this power pack is good for +47bhp (a 10.5% gain!) over stock.

This package was independently performance tested on a Dyno Dynamics Rolling Road. Known for being extremely accurate and consistent, Dyno Dynamics units are often referred to as "The Heartbreaker" for giving notoriously low readings. Using this extremely accurate dynamometer, a customer V12 (2005 DB9) yielded 409.328bhp and 398.207ft/lb torque. After the installation of these manifolds (paired with sports catalysts, exhaust system and ECU tune), the car produced 452.363bhp and 428.990ft/lb torque, an increase of 10.51% in horsepower and 7.73% increase in torque - It's important to understand that these figures represent a BHP gain greater than 43bhp - Aston Martin rates the 6.0L V12 DB9 at 450bhp and 440ft/lb - a 10.51% and 7.73% increase over this figures would represent a gain of 47.3bhp and 34ft/lb for flywheel output of 497bhp.

As a result of a further 28 hours of dyno research, we have been able to advance the tuning on this engine. Substantially. For this 2014 Vanquish, we were able to achieve gains of 104WHP, and 69RWTQ. This dyno is very well respected, re-calibrated every two weeks to account for bearing wear and is climate compensated.

If you accept/assume that this car began with the manufacturer's stated outputs of 565BHP and 457ft/lbs at the crank, these wheel gains translate to +130.57BHP, and +76.53ft/lbs at the flywheel. As you can see from the dyno sheet, the gains in both HP and torque are broad all through the RPM range.

Final output is 695BHP, and 534ft/lbs at the crank. Simply astonishing numbers.

Velocity AP's tune will unlock the true performance of your Aston Martin. Thanks to years of experience with Aston Martin, Velocity has the unique knowhow to get the most out of the car. By remapping the throttle-pedal-to-throttle-body relationship to be more responsive, throttle response is immediately improved. Further changes include amending the fuel mixture for optimum power and adjusting the spark timing to achieve outstanding results.

As a result of all of these factors, HP and torque have been improved across the RPM range, leading Velocity AP's test driver (who has had plenty of single-seat racing experience) to say, "Definitely need the traction control ON!". The DB9, with nearly as much HP as a DBS and an additional 54ft/lb of torque, is now faster than a DBS in real world driving conditions.

In mid-2014 Velocity AP released their Power Kit for the updated Aston Martin V12 drivetrain this package produced +41RWHP, for Vanquish, DB9, V12VS and Rapide S.

At this time, although these results were very good for a normally aspirated car, we could see that there were some areas for improvement, particularly related to the new variable valve timing and related emissions controls which were introduced for the 2013 Model Year/Facelift cars. The package was working well as you can see from the videos, but there was still some work to do, especially in sorting LT and ST fuel trims in closed loop.

As a result of a further 28 hours of dyno research, they have been able to advance the tuning on this engine. Substantially. For this 2014 Vanquish, they were able to achieve gains of 104WHP, and 69RWTQ. This dyno is very well respected, re-calibrated every two weeks to account for bearing wear and is climate compensated.

As you can see from the dyno sheet, the gains in both HP and torque are broad all through the RPM range.

Final output is 695BHP, and 534ft/lbs at the crank. Simply astonishing numbers.

This package is available, not just for the Vanquish, but also for the V12VS, Rapide S, and New DB9. The V12VS should return similar numbers to the Vanquish, and the Rapide S not far back of that.

The DB9 on the other hand will do even better, in a sense. Although it lacks the variable/flapped intake system that is on the Vanquish, which is worth about 15BHP, it has an even bigger advantage in terms of gains: It is sandbagged from the factory. We have installed this package on a 2014 DB9, and found that the vast majority of the difference in power output between the DB9 & Vanquish is that it is software limited. Quite simply put, it is deliberately de-tuned through software. So given the same results, minus the airbox, a DB9 should show around 680BHP. A gain of 170BHP over the stock setup, or around 135RWHP.

Similar performance gains can be expected on V12 Vantage, DBS, Virage and later-year DB9 models.
