Since we've built many popular enthusiast vehicles ourselves, we've got the experience to let you know about issues you may encounter and offer advice you'll only get from another Mini Maniac!
There are many ways to get more power out of your Mini's engine - whether you're supercharged, turbocharged or naturally aspirated, and often you'll find optimal power with a combination of several complementary performance parts working together to make more power and torque. Hell, why stop at just one form of forced induction - some Mini Maniacs have even twincharged their R5X Minis.
We invite you to chat with our Modification Experts. We have several specialists on staff that offer a wealth of technical expertise on Mini Cooper Performance upgrades. If you're looking for something specific, just ask! We can probably get it for you.

What types of Exhaust Systems are available for my Mini?
The design of an exhaust system will vary depending on which parts of an exhaust system you want to replace, whether or not you have a Cooper, Cooper S, JCW or other variant and where your exhaust system should exit. Systems can be either bolt on exhaust kits or weld-in, which can vary by style and manufacturer. Exhaust systems are typically offered in these configurations: header/downpipe-back, cat-back or axle-back. The names refer to how much of the exhaust system is replaced.
We offer exhaust systems for Mini from Supersprint Exhaust, Billy Boat, Borla, Magnaflow, Remus Exhaust and Rogue Engineering.
This is the most popular option for upgrading your exhaust system and the one that typically offers actual performance gains. This type of exhaust system includes different mufflers like an Axle-Back system but also includes larger diameter exhaust tubing and spans the length of the exhaust system rear of the cats, hence the name "Cat-Back". This type of exhaust system is more expensive, but offers tangible performance gains as well as an improvement in sound and aesthetics. An even wider variety of Cat-Back systems are available from the finest names in exhaust, including: Supersprint Exhaust, Billy Boat, Borla, Magnaflow, Remus Exhaust and Rogue Engineering
Headers (aka Exhaust Manifold)
Headers, as they are commonly called, are the exhaust manifolds - most commonly, "headers" refers to a high performance exhaust manifold. They can be manufactured in cast iron, cast aluminum, 304 Stainless Steel or even exotic materials in some cases. For naturally aspirated or supercharged (non-turbo) Minis, the exhaust manifolds are connected to the exhaust ports on the Cylinder Head of your Mini's 4-cylinder engine and channels the exhaust gases into the exhaust pipe at the outlet of the headers. By smoothing out the flow of exhaust gas out of the engine, the engine can operate more efficiently and as a result, makes more power and torque. Some headers are engineered with precise equal-length manifold runners ("equal length headers") for more extreme gains. A performance header's enhanced design may remove or relocate catalytic converters, which are often integrated into the OEM manifolds. Supercharged engines in particular, will respond more to a set of headers than a naturally aspirated car.
The downpipe is a part of the exhaust system only for turbocharged vehicles. The downpipe is the part of the exhaust system that connects from the turbocharger's outlet to the rest of the exhaust system. Many factory downpipes have integral catalytic converters - and most OEM converters are highly restrictive. A performance downpipe streamlines the flow of exhaust gases out of the turbo for better throttle response, faster spool-up and more power and often either omit the catalytic converter or replace it with a high performance unit.
A Mini Cooper S Downpipe from Supersprint, for instance, is engineered to eliminate restrictions in the OEM system for enhanced flow. This results in much faster turbocharger spool-up times (less lag), enhanced exhaust sound and significantly improved power. Generally speaking, most downpipes will yield similar results. A downpipe is a great bang-for-the-buck modification for most turbocharged vehicles and really unlock the potential of your Mini's turbocharged motor.
