What is a Cold Air Intake and what will it do for my Cadillac?
Colder air is denser in oxygen, and so colder air going into the motor will result in more power. A cold air intake is designed to bring cool air to where you need it - a true CAI reroutes the intake path to suck in cooler air from an outside source. By drawing air from a cooler, outside source, the intake avoids ingesting the hot air hanging around in the engine bay, keeping horsepower output high and consistent.
Cold Air Intake systems often feature a heat shield to insulate the intake arm from hot air. Maintaining a cool incoming air charge is important, because colder air, being more dense, has more oxygen, creating a better air/fuel mixture, allowing your Cadillac's power plant to develop more power and operate at peak efficiency.
On Turbocharged Cadillacs like the ATS, the 2.0T engines are responsive to modifications. Most Cadillac Intake systems, though well engineered, are designed to keep sound levels down to a level that will please the average "Cadillac" customer. This quiet operation comes at the expense of air flow, and that in turn, costs horsepower. By installing a free-flowing intake, you're allowing your Seoul engineered motor to achieve its full potential. We offer "Cold Air Intake" systems from Korkar Performance Engineering.
