LED side markers
|
December, 2010 |
Reviewer: Justin G.
First off, I bought these lights for my 2006 330XI. I thought they were going to be plug and play, so when I opened the box to see 2 wires and no plug, I was a bit disappointed. They did, however come with wire taps, which I thought would suffice. They did not. They conduit on the LED side markers are too tough and the wire taps wouldn't break through them to get to the wire. So, after carefully cutting back the wires and using the wire taps, I gave up and just cut the plugs off the car and wired it up the old fashion way. I was trying to avoid this, as I might want to return the car to factory if I was going to sell it in the future. Secondly, the fitment of the LED side marker is far from perfect. When you put the light in, you'll notice that it sits somewhat crooked compared to the factory light. Once it "locks in," forget about getting it out. After it was crooked, I tried removing it using the same method as with the factory light. After several failed attempts, I had to result to prying it out with a trim removal tool. When I did so, the metal retaining clip broke off and fell down inside the wheel well. As you can see, I was quite upset at this point. I tried putting the light back in, and it fit just as tight as it did with the metal retaining clip in place. So as you can imagine, the clip simply locked the light into the car so that it could not be removed, except by breaking it. Overall, the quality of this light was something you would except for a Civic or a cobalt, not a BMW. Specially for $58, I expected something better. Does it work? YES. Does it look nice? Depends... if you can't notice the crookedness of it. Is it worth $58? NO. I know modbargains has a lot better products out there. I just think that this isn't one of them. I know they can find a better supplier of this item. If you're on a budget and you can't afford anything else, then be prepared to install it the hard way, and don't be surprised if it doesn't fit as you would have expected.
