Why Do Pulleys Work?
Test after test over time has clearly shown that underdrive pulleys absolutely
deliver more horsepower to cars! The reason for this is that aftermarket pulleys
are designed to free up the power that is lost to parasitic drag. Typically the
amount of horsepower to be gained by replacing pulleys is determined by the
amount of accessories the car is running (alternator, water pump, power
steering, air conditioning, smog pump, etc). The more accessories, the more
horsepower there is to be gained from aftermarket pulleys! Therefore, on BMW's a
